Creepers gonna creep
Sometimes I wonder if creepers are completely aware of what they’re doing. Or if what they think they’re doing is perfectly okay. Maybe their intentions are good, but they just go about it the wrong way.
But I try to be optimistic and think that no one can be THAT socially inept so they know what they’re doing. Anyways, my creeper story is a short one so here it goes:
I’m on facebook one night, and I get a friend request from Tom Thumb (name changed). Now, I went to middle school with Tom, but we never really ever talked or anything. We rode the same bus and that’s about as far as our relationship went. So I was surprised to see a friend request from him, since I haven’t seen him in 3 years or so. I accepted. I thought that would be the last time I would make any kind of contact with him over facebook. But alas, I get a message from Mr. Thumb that went as follows:
Tom: Long time no see.
Me: yes.
Tom: I know I still live next to you though.
(This not only confused me, but let me properly give him the title of ‘creeper’. Plus, I didn’t know how to respond.)
Me: Yeah, I thought you moved away.
Tom: No way, do you have a number I can text you by?
…Seriously? What the fuck? Do not ask for my number when I have not spoken to you in over 3 years. But I take the high road and instead just ignore him. You’d think he’d get the message, right? Not with my luck, because the next day I get another message:
Tom: Want to do something, we live really close?
(I’m not one to be mean to people’s faces, so I pass the torch to my good friend Jessica to take care of it.)
Me: I can’t, I’m not allowed to hang out with guys.
AHAHAHA. You’d imagine that Tom would FINALLY be aware that he’s a class-a creeper. Nope! I get another message the next day, yet again asking “Do you have a number I can text you by?” Not for creepers I do not. I yet again let Jessica do the talking:
Me: No, I got my phone taken away :/
Tom: Oh..
Me: Sorry :/
Tom: It’s okay, I wanted to see and talk to you again
Me: Oh, well yeah, I’m sort of in a relationship with someone, but we can see each other as friends.
Tom: Sure. That’s too bad.
EWWWWWWW!!
It’s situations like this and people like this that make me question society’s general social capability. Maybe I’m just naive, and this is how everyone makes friends, but I think this is just plain creepy. But I find it hard to think that that is how people become friends or whatever, because no one likes when people are straightforward, regardless of what they say. But that’s a whole other topic that I won’t get into right now.
